Hickory Place Rehabilitation
This project was developed to renew aging sewer infrastructure and to address overflows by reducing the amount of rainfall that can enter the system through defects. It consists of the evaluation of approximately 45,300 linear feet of gravity sewer, approximately 230 manholes, and associated service laterals within Metro’s rights-of-way and easements.
The rehabilitation work will primarily occur in easements and public roadways. Construction methods will include trenchless technologies (pipe and manhole lining) to minimize excavation in streets and properties. However, some excavation will be necessary on certain streets, in existing easements, and in public rights-of-way for sewer service renewals to individual properties. Temporary piping for diversion pumping may be installed on the ground. Roadways and properties disturbed by the work will be restored to their original conditions as closely as possible in a manner that will ensure that MWS can maintain future access to the public sewer infrastructure.
