Cured-in-place pipe lining seals the dealCured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining is one of several sewer rehabilitation methods used to repair leaking or structurally unsound existing pipelines. Little to no digging is involved in this trenchless process, making for a more cost-effective, environmentally friendly process that is completed more quickly and with fewer impacts and disruptions than pipe replacement.

Mayor Barry visits sewer rehabilitation projectMayor Megan Barry recently visited Clean Water Nashville’s 28th Avenue Rehabilitation – Area 1 project site to learn more about how Nashville’s aging sewer infrastructure is being renewed. As pictured, B.J. Kersteins of Insituform Technologies, Inc. (the construction contractor for this work) shows Mayor Barry a cured-in-place pipe liner. The pipe liner is inserted in the sewer to renew the system without excavating streets. Repairing sewers in this way extends the life of the system and addresses downstream overflows by reducing the amount of rainwater that infiltrates the system.

Update on the Metro Nashville Consent Decree Program

On August 6, 2012, Scott Potter and Ron Taylor of Metro Water Services provided an update on the Clean Water Nashville Overflow Abatement Program program to the Metro Council. This presentation addressed the status of the Consent Decree and planned projects included in the Long Term Control Plan for Metro Nashville Combined Sewer Overflows (Long Term Control Plan update) and the Corrective Action Plan/Engineering Report.Click here to download a copy of the presentation.
